Kristi Waite named Director of Development for Public Service Journalism
SEATTLE — The Seattle Times has announced the promotion of Kristi Waite to Director of Development for Public Service Journalism.
“Having Kristi in this position expands our capacity to continue to build on our nationally unique innovation of community funding for high impactful public-service journalism,” said Publisher Frank Blethen. “It has spawned from some of the country’s most innovative solutions journalism, including The Greater Good Campaign, Education Lab, Traffic Lab, Project Homeless and foster care reform.”
“I am thrilled to be taking on this new role,” adds Waite, “and all of the challenges that come with building a sustainable model for funding public-service journalism.”
Waite joined The Seattle Times in 2016 as a Product Manager. Among other projects, she has led the development of our family of email newsletters. Newsletters have become one of our top sources for new subscribers. This cross-disciplinary effort engaged editors, news producers, developers, marketing staff and designers across the company. Prior to joining The Seattle Times, Kristi served as Creative Director at Q13, Editor In Chief of Seattle Refined and a Regional Digital Manager for KOMO News.
Waite lives in Shoreline with her wife, Erin. She started her new role on May 21.
