This notice is to alert you of a nationwide scam where newspaper consumers, among other subscribers, in our market and other markets across the country have received fraudulent renewal notices. The Seattle Times wants to protect our customers by making you aware of this activity.

Please be advised that all legitimate renewal notices from The Seattle Times Company will have the following payment address for the renewal, and will ask customers to make payment payable to The Seattle Times:

The fraudulent renewal notices could have a variety of company names such as Readers Payment Service, Associated Publishers Network, publisherpayment.com, unitedpubex.com, Orbital Publishing Group, Publishers Billing Exchange, United Publisher Service, Magazine Billing Network, just to name a few — NONE OF THESE NAMES ARE ASSOCIATED with The Seattle Times Company.

 

• Notices may reference a renewal notice, new order, renewal service.
• These notices ask for the check to be made out to a company other than The Seattle Times.
• The suspect remittance address could be a P.O. Box in White City, OR, Henderson, NV, or Reno, NV. No remittance address other than the Seattle Times' address is valid.
• It appears that the notices are sent randomly to individuals within our market, both to existing subscribers and to people who have no current subscriber relationship with The Seattle Times.
• We have reported the incidents to federal law enforcement authorities.

If you receive a suspect notice that directs you to pay a party other than The Seattle Times or to mail your payment to an address other than to the one above, please do not respond to it. We would appreciate you making us aware of such a notice and, if possible, forwarding it to our attention at customerservice@seattletimes.com so that we may assist law enforcement with their investigation.
