Donations to the Investigative Journalism Fund make it possible for us to dedicate resources specifically to critically important local topics.

Changing lives and public policy

The Seattle Times digs deep to hold those in power accountable and make a difference for the people of our region.

IMPACTING OUR COMMUNITY

Our investigations have spurred new laws, protected vulnerable students, helped prioritize a backlog of sexual assault cases, contributed to police reform, made airplanes safer and saved local lives from dangerous painkillers.

ACTING AS A WATCHDOG

We protect the public’s right to know, revealing how people committed for sexual violence are released into the community with little to no oversight and how a Monroe school was riddled with toxic chemicals that made students and teachers sick.

PROTECTING NW RESOURCES

We hold the government accountable, investigating billions spent on ineffective salmon culverts and analyzing one of Washington’s biggest corporate tax breaks, which is working against the state’s clean energy goals and might not be delivering on a promise of new jobs in rural areas.
