SEATTLE — The Seattle Times Company is launching a new regionwide calendar and ticketing platform on August 18th called The Ticket. Powered and promoted by The Seattle Times, The Ticket is a lively, opinionated entertainment website covering all the exciting events and things to do in Seattle and the Puget Sound region.

The site is created by the Seattle Times Content Studio and will be led by Chase Burns, formerly an editor at The Stranger. With his experience as a successful entertainment reporter and editor in Seattle, Burns is perfectly positioned to help The Seattle Times Company create a compelling, visionary entertainment website for the Seattle area. He has assembled a team of experienced local writers, reporters and videographers to help him create The Ticket.

"Puget Sound's arts and entertainment communities are bold and distinct, and they deserve a platform that can support them as they connect with new audiences after these last two uniquely challenging years," Burns said. "People want to reconnect with their neighborhoods, and The Ticket will help build those connections."

The Ticket will include event listings and planners featuring things to do across five key regions in Seattle. Readers can access content through weekly email newsletters, social media channels and navigation from seattletimes.com.

Promoters and venues are encouraged to list their events for free, and can pay for additional exposure in sponsored posts, display advertising and other channels. The Ticket also supports ticketing services powered by technology partner Evvnt, a global event marketing company that delivers solutions for venue operators, promoters and event planners across 139 countries.

Alan Fisco, President and Chief Financial Officer of The Seattle Times Company, said, “We developed The Ticket over the past year as we collectively look to help our region’s vital arts and entertainment community rebound from the impact of the pandemic. The Ticket is yet another way for The Seattle Times to serve our readers and local community.”
